On Day 1's agenda was a panel discussion on Politics & the Media sponsored by Bloomberg News and led by some prominent journalists and communicators, including the national press secretary for the President's campaign. We needed tickets to get in and we got them by writing to the University of Southern California's Annenberg Center which co-sponsored the event with Harvard and Bloomberg. Some bag checks at security checkpoints (the event was inside the "Epicenter", the central hub of the city) but otherwise smooth sailing. James, the security guard from New York via Charlotte, kindly took our picture in front of the bouncing balls mirror wall. The wall actually belongs to Gold's Gym -- Bloomberg & Co. had rented the whole floor, paying Gold's big money to move all the equipment for the week. Talk about muscle. The site is vis-a-vis the Time Warner Convention Center and a magnet for people this week. Everyone's hawking something.
